Terri Brooks

De werken van de Australische kunstenares Terri Brooks refereren aan eigentijdse abstracte landschappen die hun essentie ontlenen aan de stedelijke omgeving, vooral aan haar gevels, patina, architecturale details, patronen en muren vol graffiti. Terri Brooks is geïnteresseerd in een natuurlijke manier van “mark making” een excessieve techniek vermijdend om vooral te focussen op de weergave van natuurlijke verwerings- processen. De werken komen
voort uit intuïtieve “mark making” en herhaling waarbij ze een vrijwel een neutraal palet gebruikt. Het palet, voornamelijk zwart en wit, zijn symbolisch voor het sterke contrast tussen licht en schaduw in Australië.

Terri Brooks is in 2010 afgestudeerd als Doctor Filosofie aan de RMIT Universiteit van Ballarat. Ze heeft sinds 1989 vele solo en groeps exposities op haar naam staan inclusief exposities in Australie, Amerika, Engeland, Duitsland, HongKong, Nieuw Zeeland en Italië. Ze is bekroond met een BP Acquistive Award en een Australische Council Grant en daarnaast vele finale plaatsen in grote Art Awards in Australie. Haar werk is in verschillende musea, bedrijven en particuliere collecties opgenomen waaronder het Neubrandenburg Museum en Westpac Bank.
